Summary: man pages should have FILES section listing used files
Product: Sorcery
Version: Untargetted future release
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P3
Component: Documentation
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: flux AT sourcemage.org

Many of the sorcery functions can be manipulated by hand by directly editing
various text files. This includes: the install queue in
/var/log/sorcery/queue/install, the scribe index in
/etc/sorcery/local/grimoire, etc. These files should be listed and described
in
the various sorcery manpages. There are times when admins may actually need to
manually edit these files, but it would also be useful to know for backup
purposes, and just plain understanding. Of course if we are paranoid that
users
will trash their systems from experimenting, we can just mention that if they
touch these files, they do so at their own risk and we hold no responsibility
for errors they introduce. But we definitely still need to expose them,
otherwise it's like we are trying to prevent admins (ok, just slow down since
any competent admin will go looking for the files and eventually find them,
but
let's not give them extra work to do) from manipulating sorcery in a way they
choose, which would violate our policy.
