Summary: sorcery(8) fails to make defaults clear
Product: Sorcery
Version: 1.13.x
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Sorcery
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: eekee57 AT fastmail.fm
This applies to git sorcery as well as to 1.13.7.
I read the section on defaults in sorcery(8) after noting bug #14527, but I
can't say I understand it at all.
<action> is never explained at all, what is it? A cast action? A dispel
action?
"<on> is generally what spell will be used." If it is only _generally_ a spell
name, what else could it be?
"<what> can also be a feature name." "Also" to what? What does the word "also"
apply to? Can something else be a feature name? Can <what> be something other
than a feature name?
Either a good deal of information has been omitted, (some of it necessary) or
the author was speaking Loroi formal. There is a wonderful "you seem to be
male"
sketch in the web-comic Outsider, but man pages are not usually a good place
for
alien speech patterns. ;)

(Dammit, the idea of man pages for Jedi and Vulcans just popped into my head.
(: )
Interestingly, sorcery --help produces far clearer information than the man
page. Perhaps the author of the man page was trying to fit the description
into
an inappropriate formatting model.
