Summary: dispel fails on unknown spells
Product: Sorcery
Version: 1.12.x
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: CLOSED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Dispel
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: adamsgl AT dhbit.ca

When trying to clean-up a system that hasn't been updated in awhile, I
noticed
the glibc-kernel-headers spell was still installed, even though it no longer
exists (in test, at least).

When trying to dispel it, I get:

root@ids01:/var/lib/sorcery/codex/test# dispel glibc-kernel-headers
basename: too few arguments
Try `basename --help' for more information.

dispel -e returns exactly the same thing.

So, am I screwed?

this happens in the following situation:
The spell is removed AND there is no tablet data for the spell. So over time
it
will happen less frequently.

It'd still be nice to deal with the problem though.

The workaround is to remove the line in /var/state/sorcery/packages

Okay, fair enough, I'll do that.

I got the same while dispelling perforce-client (I removed the grimoire
containing it).

Removing the line in /var/state/sorcery/packages does not remove the files
installed by the spell, so it's not a working workaround.

unless something changed (which is possible) the dispel would remove the
files,
but trip over some other stuff, causing it to "fail", the only thing left to
do
is remove the line in packages. Again, things might have changed, so that
might
not be the case anymore. It was a working workaround.

I have a fix for this, but perforce is down, so i cant submit it. I'll attach
it
here.
