Summary: config_query gets slower as CONFIGURE progresses
Product: Sorcery
Version: 1.14.x
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Cast
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: iuso AT sourcemage.org
The amount of time it takes for cast to process each config_query during a
normal recast increases as CONFIGURE progresses. It is especially apparent on
slower machines.
It can be reproduced by recasting net-tools without -r. As the pre-answered
config_queries scroll by they become slower. I can see it on my 1.7 GHz
Pentium-M, but faster machines may need CPU throttling to display the
behavior.
Possibly it only happens in spells that have unusually many config_queries,
and whether the prompts are pre-answered might also play a part.
