Summary: install_config_file is unreliable
Product: Sorcery
Version: 1.13.x
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: subroutines
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: iuso AT sourcemage.org

Sorcery version is 20060404

install_config_file seems borked. That is, it doesn't always ask before
overwriting an existing file with a new one that's different. I suspected
this
already when we were working on the kdebase backup hack, and now I ran into
it
again with the sdl spell.

In the case of kdebase, it seemed that whether install_config_file asked
about
overwriting or just did it was random. So far with sdl it simply never asks
anything.

You can attempt to reproduce this bug by casting sdl from test, selecting to
install the config script (a new addition to the spell by yours truly),
selecting some video and audio driver, and then casting again with different
driver options. It uses install_config_file to install the
files /etc/sysconfig/sdl and /etc/profile.d/sdl.sh.

Also if you have kdebase installed, modify both rc files
in /usr/share/config/kdm/ and recast. If install_config_file works properly,
it should ask about _both_ files being overwritten. For some reason it
sometimes only asks about one of them.
