Summary: Proposition: feature for sorcery to check for & cast
"hungry spells"
Product: Sorcery
Version: Untargetted future release
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: P3
Component: Sorcery
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: juuso.alasuutari AT tamperelainen.org
Sorcery (gaze and cast) could really use a feature that would check for
unfulfilled optional dependencies to spells that have been installed.
An example: I cast spell A and say "no" to its optional dependency B. Later
on I cast B. Now I have A cast "--without-B" although B is available. Spell A
is now "hungry" because it has B available but not enabled.
A new gaze option ("gaze hungry") would produce produce a listing of these
occurrences, in the case of my example it would output "A is hungry for B". A
new cast option ("cast hungry") would offer to cast hungry spells with those
optional dependencies enabled which are installed (this already happens by
default as all installed spells are by default set to "y" in dependency
prompts).
The actual code needed for this feature wouldn't be hard to do, in fact
dufflebunk already produced a script for it when I presented my idea on the
IRC channel :) I'll attach an .sh file based on his script here.
