this has come up before and the solution has and likely always will be to use
a
custom grimoire.

Reason being that sorcery has no facility besides custom grimoires for
remembering what grimoire you cast the spell from, doing so would lead to a
lot
of undesired behavior, not to mention duplication of an architecture we
already
have. So if you said cast -f stable gcc then the next time you did a sorcery
queue, sorcery would see the version in test or whatever grimoire listed
before
and mark the spell for update.

Instead you can use scribbler to move the spell to a custom grimoire or setup
a
symlink in the custom grimoire to the grimoire you're interested in. You can
even use atd to remove the symlink after a period of time.

In summary I dont see an advantage to bloating the number of command line
options in cast to provide functionality we already support through a more
powerful and flexible interface.
