Summary: better support for cvs, svn and bk version of spells
Product: Sorcery
Version: Untargetted future release
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: Cast
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org

It would be fine to have better support for cvs (and of course svn, bk)
versions
of spells.

VERSION=$(date +%Y%m%d) used in cvs spells is the only one way as to ensure
our
users have up-to-date sources. Of course there are some drawbacks, for example
30 versions of mplayer in /var/cache/sorcery directory. ;-)

The main drawback of this VERSION=$(date..):
If user run a "sorcery system-update" every day all cvs spells are compiled
every day as well even though nothing changes in the cvs repository.

If something could be done in sorcery to drop compiling a cvs (svn, bk, ...)
spells when nothing changed (maybe parsing the cvs update output?) that would
be
very nice.
