I like the query idea for init.d/xinet.d, but I'm not sure we should offer
installing both. While it'd be nice to let users switch between the two
without
recasting/manually copying the files it would also setup a situation where the
service is trying to be started twice, unless we also ask if the user would
like
to enable the service. In the latter case, xinetd (Bug #4272) and init.d would
need to both default to being disabled and another query comes up to ask which
they want to enable.
So, the cases I'm thinking of (e.g. uses a spell with both init.d and xinet.d
scripts):
1) User says not to use either init.d or xinet.d
* Sorcery installs both scripts disabled
* Sorcery doesn't install either script
2) User says to use init.d
* Sorcery installs both scripts, enables the init.d script and leaves the
xinet.d script disabled
* Sorcery installs the init.d script enabled, but doesn't install the
xinet.d
script
3) Same as #2, but swap init.d and xinet.d
4) User chooses to install both init.d and xinet.d scripts
* Sorcery installs and enables both scripts
* Sorcery installs both scripts, but leaves them disabled
Should we have Sorcery automatically enable installed scripts or leave them
disabled by default with another query to enable each script installed?
As for asking if they'd like to restart the service or xinetd, I think that
would be a good fix for the quandry, but of course it should default to 'n' as
that's been our preferred behaviour. :)
