Summary: spawn a task to "beep the speaker" periodically
Product: Sorcery
Version: Devel
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: Cast
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: sorcerer AT flamesnyper.com

Cast should spawn a task to beep the speaker periodically for unattended
sorcery
updates, etc. After each spell is successfully cast (i.e. "cast" ends) kill
the
task.

Reason: Some "casts" are waiting indefinitely for input -- during unattended
updates we (the admin) may not check for a while if the cast is done. In a
perfect world a cast would never block and wait for input. Since this is
happening, we should spawn a task that sends a beep to the speaker
periodically.

I would like to see this task start with a couple of "beep, beep" noises every
minute or so while the cast is running, increasing in frequency (not audio
frequency, time frequency) until the "beep, beep" is happening every 5 seconds
or
so, until the cast finishes. Of course, the next cast would then start the
process over. We probably need to check if this task is already spawned -- in
the case we have multiple casts running, i.e. on a multi-processor system.

Of course, this should be configurable, in the sorcery menu somewhere. :-)
