I have subscribed to both. I don't always get the announcement from both
services, and sometimes when I do, there can be a couple of days difference.
Those are rare and extreme cases, but they do happen.

Subscribe to it instead? That may generate additional unwanted traffic,
though.

Sure. The only difference is that these methods require someone to actively
monitor and manually scan results and lists, while the other comes to us
auto-magically. Maybe we (the "I" case of "we", that is) could create a
script which uses Paul's script and only checks those spells which are not
checked otherwise.
