Compiling MPlayer without ffmpeg is quite trivial, it just needs two links
(as a quickfix) to headers. More correct solution would be to find out why
those headers are in different place than it expects them to be, but
MPlayer compiles fine when those headers are only linked and works fine as
well. And I definitely wouldn't say that MPlayer is quite useless without
ffmpeg. It can play videos without any problem (provided you have powerful
enough machine, which my Pentium166 definitely isn't, but Pentium3 700MHz
is fine), and DVDs as well.
