I believe `dialog' has some kind of timeout setting, so we have to generate default config and use it when timed out. This'd work everywhere except for linux spell which drives dialog by itself.

This is something which has been on my mind for some time.
Many of the spells have a dialog-based configuration screen, which make some of the more complex spells easier to configure than having to go through a list of yes or no questions. (Take a look at any of the php or apache spells for examples of the long list of yes or no questions.)
As nice and helpful as these configuration screens are, they present a problem for automatic updates and rebuilds. I have a computer that has a fresh install from the 0.6 ISO, and several times during the course of the obligatory initial system-update and a subsequent rebuild, I have come back to a dialog screen awaiting input.
While I understand that an initial install will not have all of the configuration information, subsequent casts should have the information and should not stop the process to await input from me.
I know the grimoire team (OK, all the teams) are short staffed, but I think we should endeavor to modify and/or create spells so that they are "update/rebuild friendly".
What do you all think?
