I would also suggest that you check your RAM, there have been several
cases where incomsistent compile errors were caused by bad RAM. A good
program to test it with is meminfo86 (meminfo86.org).
That error is most certainly NOT caused by userland software, and it is
unlikely (but possible) that it is cause by the kernel
