gnome-python are the GNOME 1.4 python bindings. The fact that they
depend on control-center is not really a problem (it can be kept
alongside 2.0), but they also depend on gnome-core (which supplies
libpanelapplet) which conflicts with 2.0.x -terminal, -panel, -session
and -desktop.
I suggest that you dispel gnome-python unless you really need it. Also a
'gaze depends gnome-core' will reveal further spells that might need to
be removed.

xmms should work if you 'cast -r -c xmms' and decline the gnome-core
optional dependency

I know. I hate this problem a lot, and I wish i knew of a way to fix it
other than deprecating GNOME 1.4 (desktop, not libraries) completely.
