Howdy Ryan,
I have read the last two weeks logs, finally got caught up... has been hectic
two weeks!
Below I wanted to react to a few of the things I encountered in the meeting
notes. I have listed the date of the meeting to make it easier to find in the
log if you want to refresh the memory about the discussion before/after the
line cited:

Aug 18 20:59:14 <flipsidejones> ok. So lets get second and third backups for
each guru. could easily be other gurus. whatever. then lets establish a way
to know each guru's status. that works for me.
Answer:
We have this in some cases, but I tend to let the guru come to me with a new
helper (and of course send offers for help on a section thru to the guru for
"interview" and approval). That is what happens now.
As stated by those guru's present at the meeting, no one knows their sections
spells (and more importantly, the connection of the dependencies with not
only their seciton but those of other guru's) better than the guru. I would
severely hesitate to allow any non-guru to cross update. Some guru's do
update cross section but know what this means and have personally asked the
lead guru for permission.
I know this sounds informal so what I want to do here is request that the
current guru's add a list of helpers to the MAINTAINER file, IF and only IF
they want/have/need them. I don't want to force anyone to take help that is
not needed.
Vacations are reported to me w/o fail up to now and some have even arranged a
person to take over (sergey is covering xenith for the month already). I see
no need to inflict alot of admin overhead just before 1.0 and I think by
adding the extra helpers to the maintainer file we have a bit of clarity.
Als a side note, the wiki org chart is my place to update changes and
advertise vacancies along with a mail to the lists.
Aug 18 21:03:16 <flipsidejones> i suggest a more extreme schedule for them.
as
in : second an alert is issued, /anyone/ can post an updated version of the
spell as a bugzilla attachment. Then the maintainer has 24 hours to update
the grimoire. otherwise seconds come into play. if 48 hours has passed, /any/
guru can bump it.
Answer:
This is probably a good idea. I also jump in any time I see a security
update,
kerberos was posted, bugzilla'ed and then I just fixed it. I think getting
the bug and lists reporting done is the most important, as there the fix is
explained and each user can implement that asap. That is gets into the
grimoire a bit slower is not a problem to me, getting the users the fix info
should be the #1 priority as we have made the managment of your own box
easier with our distro!
*Note: this was a good meeting log to read!
