Opinionated piece, be warned.
I can go into explaining why, but basically, Eric, I think you're wrong. Your choice is one of the things that stifles grimoire development, because even in a commercial SD it's hard to enforce enough discipline to use one SCM tool successfully, and you're advocating using _two_ of them. I'm not even attacking free vs non-free subject. And I think Ryan's wrong in not enforcing a stricter policy.
<sarcasm>At the same time, we 're (for now, you are) having more fun doing this CVS-P4 synchronization ;-), and that's what SMGL is about, right?</sarcasm>
BTW, my section has no bugs files against it. Tomorrow, if we decide to open the whole grimoire to all maintainers, we don't even have a grimoire. We have two of them.

This whole "best tool" vs "free tool" thing can get emotional. Lets try toAs far as I am concerned this is the ONLY useful thing that has been said on the whole subject... well spoken and once again you show why you got my vote for Project Lead!
avoid that, and recognize that both sides are right (its purely a value
judgement) - and lets do something that makes it possible for both sides to
work together.
