@Stephen: The gcj-spell only builds 64 bit libraries, so I don't think it has
anything to do with the --disable-multilib option. From

Specify that multiple target libraries to support different target variants,
calling conventions, etc. should not be built. The default is to build a
predefined set of them.

It doesn't mention where it is going to install the libraries (lib or
lib64)....which is anyway different between distros (hence to me it doesn't
appear to be an upstream bug). Fix above is the one applied to gcc & g++, so
makes sense to apply to gcj, fortran &sense to apply to gcj, fortran & objc as
well.
