--- Comment #3 from Eric Sandall <sandalle AT sourcemage.org> 2009-03-02

I have this issue on one of my boxes (the important one: work :(), but my
other
boxes are fine. I can *sometimes* get my box to boot, but it's random. I have
tried with both parallel init and non-parallel init (as specified in
/etc/sysconfig/init).

Gentoo has a bug open for this at
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258442. It seems some systems boot, but
others do not.

Some fixes were to build a certain module into the kernel rather than a
module,
but the for sure fix is to revert to module-init-tools 3.5.

I'll try some of the fixes:
* Build BSD PTYs into the kernel
* Disable logging and parallel init
* Revert module-init-tools to 3.5
