Summary: add query for LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK (or alternative
fix)
Product: Codex
Version: test grimoire
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: xorg-modular
AssignedTo: sm-grimoire-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: jblosser-smgl AT firinn.org

[Marking enhancement against test since this is asking a base grimoire package
to make a concession for a z-package (Sun java), but given the use of java
this
is pretty fundamental.]

I'm logging this second hand so I may get some details wrong but the gist is
this:

- Sun java has some bad multihead/xinerama linking that breaks it under
current
X, specifically with a lock file argument with libxcb.

- libxcb has an environment variable that can be set to make java happy, but
reportedly this slows things down.

- Some also report patching one of the binary java libraries makes things work
via brute force.

- Sun needs to actually fix the problem.

More details are here: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/8521
Sun's version of the bug is here:
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6532373

I would suggest we add a query to the libxcb spell asking if they want
LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK set, since this appears to be what upstream xorg has
decided to do about it for now.
