It still could be a ffmpeg issue. ffmpeg-svn to be precise; I find the
function
name suspicious and the behaviour could be explained like this: that part of
code is only built if theora support is enabled, which isn't enabled if you're
missing it (we don't pass any flags, so autodetection is used), thus not
triggering the bug.
In short, I bet it would work fine if you used ffmpeg instead.
