Here's my suggestion for this(note I haven't been a linux spell user since the
new menu got implemented).

cast linux

Do you want to apply any patches to the sources? [n]

So ask first if patches should be used and default to no on that...
Patches to no would hide the no_menu option since that would cause
extra work to be done(unless it would be easy to support both behaviours).

How do you want to handle the spell configuration:
(0) semi_guided_menu
(1) no_menu
(2) expert
(3) I_dont_want_to_use_this_spell

So:
0 would get with the menu
1 would run the normal cast way(asking questions etc...)
2 would give you the ability to draw and quarter everything yourself
3 would exile the spell

So for 0 -> go to menu and do whatever
For 1 -> start asking questions about kernel version(and branch)(as a list or
a
string)
For 2 launch a shell or some such and let the user to their own devices until
they exit it and check what steps were done(i.e. is .config there with a
recent
timestamp, bzImage, any modules, System.map) and do whatever is lacking.
Fol 3 sorcery exile linux and let the user know he's on his own and how to
reverse the action.

These are just my suggestion for improving the linux spell...
