What's the point of doing it in each spell (if it's what you're talking
about) ?
The same problem is already handled for /usr/share/info/dir, and this is
simply
added to /var/lib/sorcery/protected, globally

I'm not familiar with $INSTALL_ROOT. Note that you will eventually have to
merge
with the real gconf anyway.

I changed the component to Unknown, because it's *not only* about spells in
gnome2-apps : evince is in doc, compiz in xorg-modular, ekiga in chat-im...
