I think this bug is rather confused. Are we down to mostly just making sure
something owns /etc/hosts and puts the '127.0.0.1 localhost' entry in there?
Anything beyond that would be a Bad Idea.
This like this:

are *completely* bogus. The IP used for the real hostname is important and
has
nothing to do with personal taste, and is relevant to a lot more than just
webservers. We start messing with this, we break a lot of servers. Whoever
told you that was completely clueless.
