Summary: cups needs g++ non-optional
Product: Codex
Version: stable grimoire
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: printer
AssignedTo: sm-grimoire-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: thomas-forum AT orgis.org
I tried to install a basic server with minimal footprint with stable grimoire
and stumbled over cups not compiling because of missing C++ compiler.
configure goes through but the compilation stops at some C++ file (don't have
the log here now).
I see that g++ is an _optional_ dependency for cups... but when I glance at
INSTALL.txt from the cups source:
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
You'll need ANSI-compliant C and C++ compilers, plus a make
program and Bourne shell. The GNU compiler tools work well -
we've tested the current CUPS code against GCC 2.95.x with
excellent results.
So, I think we may have to face it and admit that we cannot have a cups print
server without g++ - or is there some trick I don't know?
