And just to remind people since it came up recently, a properly formatted
vote is "an ordered list of candidates" or "abstain".
This means that if you prefer candidate yellow over candidate dog, but
would be ok with either, you vote:
1: candidate yellow
2: candidate dog
If you only want candidate yellow, you vote:
1: candidate yellow
If you want neither, you vote:
Abstain
That doesn't mean other formating on votes necessarily makes them invalid
or anything, but the more clear you are the easier it is for the counter to
end up with the right result.
Something like voting:
Candidate yellow: no
Candidate dog: yes
doesn't fit into our policy, though it would normally be interpreted as a
vote for just candidate dog.
