Oddly I got one phase back so by stringing some electric cords across
the apartment I was able to get partial power. Just not going to be
very stable I am afraid.

Is the solution here just to back out the patch or make it optional?

Is this really gating for the release? I have built gcc on both an
athlon and a PIV without any issues. It maybe be very difficult to
track down the specific problem with his system.
