Hi there,
well, the simplest is to go to bugzilla, do a query for bug reports (you
can leave the "words" field blank if you want all the bugs) then just go
through all the bugs labeled as NEW. If you think you can fix one, just
try it out, and report what you found out by leaving a comment in the
bug itself. Finally, you can post in the bug a patch to the spell when
you're sure your fix works.
I advise you to read http://wiki.sourcemage.org/SpellwritingForDummies
to set yourself up a personal grimoire and ease your work.
Also, don't hesitate to poke ppl when you want them to have a look at
your fix/bug so that they can test it.
As for flags, integration to stable, etc... we'll see about that when
you need it ;-)
I dunno if you can have an account to the git repos right now, just ask
Jeremy (Emrys) for that. In any case, here's all that you need to know
for basic git operations:
http://wiki.sourcemage.org/Git_Guide
Hope that helped.
Cheers,
Mathieu.

If a function be advertised to return an error code in the event of
difficulties, thou shalt check for that code, yea, even though the
checks triple the size of thy code and produce aches in thy typing
fingers, for if thou thinkest "it cannot happen to me," the gods shall
surely punish thee for thy arrogance.
