According to bug #9301 [0], PROVIDES is only a list file and is not executed
in bash. I didn't know that. I guess documentation still hasn't catched up.
Perhaps that explains why most PROVIDES files still have something
like: "provides PROVIDER &&" in them.
Would it be OK if I devised a cunning little script to fix these like I did
when I removed UPDATED entries [1]? I already tested it, and just a handful
of (already) illegal entries were left behind. Those I could take care of by
hand.
