To my perturbed thinking it appears that we shouldn't remove these users.
If
we remove the user we should as well remove all files owned by that user.
Since when any new user is added it may get the same UID even if it is for
another purpose or it may not get the same UID even if it is for the same
purpose. We don't want unknown-uid-files left on our disk, do we?
I'm thinking about system users used by the software that's installed, not
real people (like dkowis.) In my mind, any files that are owned by that user
are tracked by the software and, as such, are removed upon dispel anyway. If
that's not the case, then I'm mistaken. Also the UID/GID are stored within
the grimoire so that sshd, for example, always get uid 110 (Note that I don't
really know the uid for sshd, but it's not relevant, just for the example.)
I believe we've all been of the understanding that we were not
discussing user accounts. :) The problem with removing accounts that
have been created, and possibly used, is that backups and logs may
refer to these accounts, as well as documentation.
