I would like to address two specific issues concerning many of you at
the moment. Our server housing /export/distributions (and thus all our
linux distros) is currently running a full filesystem check. This is a
multi-terabyte machine, the file checks will take many hours, and all we
can do is wait. We hope you understand.

Secondly, db3.ibiblio.org is also in the midst of filesystem checks and
will be inaccessible for an unknown period of time, affecting
etree.ibiblio.org.

We thank you for your patience.

Let me just begin by saying Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

As you likely know by now, ibiblio went offline early this morning,
approx 8:30. As I understand it, UNC's ITS was testing their UPS
systems. I'm gonna guess that those tests failed.

However, we have been remarkably lucky. It took several hours for our
NFS storage server to check all its disks, but once those tests were
complete, all our web servers were able to come back up, remount their
network filesystems, and resume business as usual.

There are a few services that are still seeing interruption, mainly
streams and bittorrent trackers, and we ask for your continued
patience as we attempt to work out these little kinks.

Thanks, and enjoy the rest of your holiday!

The ibiblio Team.
