I am trying to get some TV software running to see which I like best, but I'm
having some difficulties with a couple of them. First off, kdetv fails for
me with the following errors:

make[5]: Entering directory `/usr/src/kdetv-0.8.1/kdetv/kvideoio'
/bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --mode=link --tag=CXX g++ -Wnon-virtual-dtor

That's actually just a sampling as there are probably something like 50 such
error messages. How can I work around that problem? Here's what's
installed:

jason@jason:~$ gaze version qt-x11 kdelibs kdebase gcc
Grimoire Section Spell Grimoire Version Installed Version
-------- ------- ----- ---------------- -----------------
devel x11-toolkits qt-x11 3.3.2 3.3.2
devel kde kdelibs 3.2.3 3.2.2
devel kde kdebase 3.2.3 3.2.2
devel devel gcc 3.4.0 3.3.3

Second, zapping is giving me problems, and I'm sure it's because it depends
on
gnome-core, which conflicts with gnome-desktop. I have far too much
installed that directly or indirectly depends on gnome-desktop to even
consider removing it. The question here is, is it possible to work around
that problem, or should I not even bother?

jason@jason:~$ gaze version zapping gnome-core gnome-desktop
Grimoire Section Spell Grimoire Version Installed Version
-------- ------- ----- ---------------- -----------------
devel video zapping 0.6.5 -
devel gnome1-libs gnome-core 1.4.2 1.4.2
devel gnome2-libs gnome-desktop 2.6.1 2.6.1

(BTW, it seems that it is possible to have two conflicting spells installed
simultaneously, using sorcery "correctly". I will do some messing around and
see if I can pin-point the problem.)
