You have to modify the configure.in to use gtkmm-2.4 or 2.6 or whatever
you have. pgkconfig is stupid that way, and most packages have it
hardcoded to use 2.0. Although the file is still gtkmm-2.0.pc, the
versions aren't compatable as far as pkgconfig is concerned.

I dont' know how to fix this in the general case.
