from what i can tell if you do the following
mount --bind /dev /<chrootdir>/dev
mount --bind /proc /<chrootdir>/proc
before chroot and also bring up your dial up interface
then you will have networking in the chroot. Any problems and just post the
list again.
The command "sorcery" gives you a menu for spells and options.
sorcery -> options -> optimize architecture and then choose you arch and opts.
There are many other options you can choose ,most are documented at the
bottom
of the screen so i won't bore you.
once you have your connection and you opts set then here are some commands
you
may find helpful.
sorcery --help
gaze --help
cast --help
scribe --help

firstly i would
sorcery system-update
#which will download the new version of sorcery, update

#your grimoire and update any installed spells.
next
sorcery rebuild
#which will rebuild all installed spells with you current arch and opts.
#this may ask you a whole lot of questions as some dependancies need sorting
#out.
lastly once you system is uptodate then
cast $AS_many_spells_as_you_want_;-)
# cast useful-profile or cast kde-profile or cast gnome-profile is a good way
#to get a system up quickly available profiles follow just
# gaze what $profile_name and read the description
#gnome-2-desktop-profile
#gnome-karubik-profile
#gnome-profile
#kde-profile
#default-profile
#useful-profile
Yes the kernel will be recompiled, it will optionally run make menuconfig if
you need to configure it.
