Yeah, yeah, I noticed last night (I have "finger @kernel.org" in my .bashrc), but my weekly bandwidth allocation (40 hours @ 56kbps) means I may not be able to download it till Monday - a couple of failed attempts at getting the last OpenOffice consumed that...

But I guess I have no excuse for not doing an update now? :o)

This does beg the question of why the spell 'linux' is still there? It's only natural to assume that it's THE linux spell and will surely cause more confusion in the future as we gain new users. Does it still serve a purpose?

Yes, it does. In the future, the "linux" spell will be the one that actually builds a kernel. The others are just patches to your kernel source. eg, if you want preempt and xfs, you would cast linux-xfs and linux-preempt before casting linux.
