How was this verified?
It was taken from official gnupg keyserver:

$ gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --no-default-keyring --keyring
./BFBF0221.gpg --recv-keys BFBF0221
gpg: requesting key BFBF0221 from hkp server keys.gnupg.net
gpg: key BFBF0221: public key "Bruce Korb<bkorb AT gnu.org>" imported
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: imported: 1
That doesn't mean a thing really, anyone can update a key to a
keyserver. The key hasn't a single signature on it. And it isn't
mentioned at all either on the website or with the download, neither by
name nor by fingerprint.

At least the name is the same as mentioned at https://savannah.gnu.org/project/memberlist-gpgkeys.php?group=sharutils :

pub 1024D/353AE92F 2003-12-27
uid Bruce Korb <bkorb-gnu.org>
sub 1024g/E2E6BBD3 2003-12-27

pub 1024D/F4850180 2004-12-18
uid Eric Blake (free software programmer) <ebb9-byu.net>
sub 1024g/0E52924D 2004-12-18

Seems the same problem (the same key) was with sharutils 4.8: http://old.nabble.com/Re%3A-sharutils-4.8-has-been-released-to27667581.html#a27678050
Now we know at least that it is the same person. ;-)
