Sorry for the late reply. I'm still settling in to my new apartment.

I'll have to add the option of doing "cast -r linux" into the
documentation. Thanks for pointing this out. I'll probably just change
the directions to be "either install the kernel using our spell for it
(as the directions below show) or build and install it manually (which
we will assume you know how to do)" or something similar.

The issue regarding the kernel version on the ISO is that the kernel
will be updated to a more recent version, but after the bugs have been
worked out for the current configuration. The kernel devs don't seem to
believe in stable releases as separate from "test" releases anymore, and
I would really like to make sure we have a known good recipe before
changing the ingredients. That way, if there are internal changes in the
kernel itself that cause problems due to differences in the versions
(like when they switched SATA devices to use sd* instead of hd* for
example), the exact changes that caused the problems will be much easier
to hunt down. Additionally, as the development of the mainline branch of
cauldron progresses, newer kernel versions will become much easier to
incorporate into ISO releases, since the ISO releases themselves will be
more manageable and automated.
