I get the impression that the extra newline at the end of HISTORY is
'required' now. Certainly some of our devs make sure there is one there
whenever they can.

Braces I don't know about. I don't really like them, but I add them
wherever there might be any possibility of misunderstanding, and leave
them out otherwise. Basically if there is a space after the variable
name, I omit the braces.
