I don't personally care what they want, the point here is to get it working
the way we've always had it up til 2.0.58 so we don't break people's stuff
without warning.

If 2.2 wants to move stuff to something else that's upstream+FHS I don't
mind it because that's a different spell anyway.

No. We've been using /usr/share/apache2.

Actually our old default was just to put them in
/var/log/{access,error}_log.

No...the point is to use what 2.0.58 used.
