NFS has been built as modules, not statically.
If you have your /var/spool/sorcery mounted over nfs (as I know many do) then
the default kernel will now connect to it after simply casting nfs-utils.
Previous default kernels didn't have nfs enabled, so you had to first compile
a kernel then compile nfs-utils to do this. I have simply made the default
kernel more usable in a wider range of environments.
The reason I have also built the nfs server module is the same, it is now
possible to use the default kernel in a wider range of environments.
If you don't want or need nfs, you don't need to load the modules, there is
no
portmapper installed nor is the nfs software installed, so it is not a
security risk. If you don't want a working kernel straight after install, but
bloated with features not necessary for your hardware/environment, then there
is still the choice/option to compile a kernel during install.
The install instructions are the same for any standard install. I have not
significantly changed the layout from previous releases.
The sample raidtab (/tmp/raidtab.bak) has some minimal instructions in it, as
does also the release changelog.
This is primarily a bugfix of previous releases, I have not added any
significant features to the installer. Full support for software raid, via
the install menu will be done for 1.0
