Howdy All!

I wanted to give a midway progress report based on the results of our last
meeting. I like having the meetings only once a month, but feel that a
mid-way report will keep all informed and show that there is progress being
made!

General:
Org Chart has been updated, revamped, and split out into the basic areas that
we have within our structure. I hope to see the openings listed filled in as
soon as possible. To these ends I have posted to the news.sourcemage.org and
comp.os.linux.development.system news group calling for developers (thanks
M.L.). There have been a few new additions, these will be mentioned in their
respective sections below. The current Team Lead openings are:

* Security
* Porting
* Tome

All accounts to the various components of our infrastructure have been reset
and are in our possesion. I have retrieved all scripts that our previous PL
was running and have them under our new account. The previous PL's account
has been deactivated. Justin is busy with the updating that needs to be done
and familiarizing himself with the website setup. Please use bugzilla
(product: website) for any improvements/suggestions that you might have, he
is the default owner for them.

Contact was made with Anders Olsen to request that the irc #sourcemage
channel
be turned over to Justin Rocha. The request was agreed to and Justin is
following up on this (bug #2206).

Mailinglists have been updated and now contain a sm-user list for technical
help and the sm-discuss is now for non-tech help/discussions. I have also
requested a sm-announce list that is still in the works, keep your eyes open
as this will be added for the posting of releases and public info regarding
sourcemage.

If you would like to have your sourcemage.org address setup you can mail me
with the request... I have requested more info on this but it seems that I
can only forward these requests to ibiblio, so I will attempt to collect a
few requests before submitting so as not to pester support lines at ibiblio.

Sorcery Team:
As you might have noticed the stable releases of sorcery are once again
rolling and we have agreed on a deadline for the stable release to be 15th of
each month.

I have also asked Nick to please document how he does these releases (stable)
so that others might be able to take it over should the need arise.

There have been two new members added to the sorcery team of developers;
Robin
Cook and Sergey Lipnevich.

ISO Team:
Adam has agreed to pump out a new ISO every month with meeting Sunday (last
sunday of each month) being his deadline. He will use Stable Sorcery and Test
Grimoire.

I have also asked Adam to document (a section on Wiki) the ISO generation
process that he uses. This to facilitate others being able to create ISO'S
should the need arise.

Wyatt has been contacted and wants to help out once he gets a bit more time,
so have left him on the ISO team. His interests were the installer so time
will tell when and if he gets to it. It would be nice to have help with more
developers working on an installer... so have added it to the org chart.

Tome Team:
This team is currently empty, looking for Leader and members... so help out
in
the search. This team was mentioned in the call for developers mentioned
above.

Security Team:
This team is currently empty, looking for Leader and members... so help out
in
the search. This team was mentioned in the call for developers mentioned
above. I am also going to be cautious in filling this role, as I think we
need a serious person with good qualifications for this role.

Porting Team:
This is a future team, I am hoping that some bodies come along that find it
interesting to port our Source Mage to different arch's. Therefore it is
listed but not yet filled up with a Leader. I don't really know if a leader
is even necessary, but we already have a new member in Eric Sandall who is
busy with the Solaris porting.

Grimoire Team:
I running along fine, though a few new developers would be greatly
appreciated. I have split out the org chart to reflect the maintainers of the
various branches of the Grimoire (devel|test|stable).

Eric has also agreed to provide the best Test Grimoire by the 15th of each
month to facilitate our ISO generation. Also he will be updating the various
Grimoire docs and reporting the progress with occasional Grimoire Reports as
usual (as seen on the sm-grimoire list).

A new guru has joined in the fray, Robert Helgesson (better known as rycee)
has taken over the net section.

Everything seems to be running along just as planned, with the exception that
there remains a long list of bugs to be hunted down.... that is if you are
interested in seeing a 1.0 happen any time in the near future? ;-)

Source Mage GNU/Linux 1.0 bug countdown
===================================
Sorcery : 67 bugs to go...
Test Grimoire : 40 bugs to go...
ISO : 5 bugs to go...
Website : 9 bugs to go...
Basesystem : 1 bug to go...

Let's get hacking on this list and see if we can't get a 1.0 going here
pretty
quick...
