Michael,

I'd disagree with the "never" fertilize Draculas statement. They are NOT
heavy feeders but, like most tropical plants, are growing year round and
benefit from an occasional feeding in cultivation. The general
recommendation (the Pleurothallid Alliance published "A Dracula Cultural
Guide" in 1997--don't know if it's still available) is to feed a balanced
fertilizer at a dilution of 1/2 to 1/4 the recommended rate, no more than
once or twice a month.

I'm sure there are those who feed even more dilutely with every watering and
have great success. Perhaps some of the west coast super growers will
weigh-in with their recommendations.
