I wouldn't spend much time in the hive. Just enough to check on the queen. If you need to release her you can just remove the cork and then put the open end back down between the top bars. You will probably be able to see her leave the cage. That way you won't need to go back again to remove the empty cage. Go easy on the smoke. The main check point will be to see if the queens have been released. If they have been released; I plan to remove the queen cages and close things back up.
If they haven’t been released then I plan to remove the other cork and leave the cages in place and close things back up. What else should I be looking for during this look-n-see, and how long before removing the queen cages, if I have to pull the other cork
to release the queen? Also how much do I need to smoke the bees while doing this?
