We will be hosting a workshop this Saturday on making splits. Lewis Cauble will demonstrate several methods of splitting hives. He will cover splitting using mated queens, using queen cells, and using eggs. Lewis will also show us how to recombine the splits if there is a problem. If you are interested in learning how to increase your hives this will be a valuable workshop.

We will also be offering certified practical tests for those who have already passed the written test.  Space may be limited for the certified practicals depending on the number of participants and folks available to administer the tests.  There will be other opportunities to take the test in the near future.

The workshop begins a 10am, this Saturday, May 7th at the Colonel William H. Breeze Family Farm, 4909 Walnut Grove Church Rd.Hurdle MillsNC27541. The hives are across the road from the actual farm.

We will be working in the hives so a veil is recommended. If you are planning to take the certified practical exam you will need your veil, smoker, and hive tool.

We hope to see you there.

~Todd
