Dear Mr. Mills:

Thank you for your invitation. I'm glad it's not too late. While trying to decide to join or not, I asked myself if Percy himself would've signed on.

Probably not. But I know he enjoyed weekly literary talks at that restaurant in Mandeville, and I would have loved to have been a fly on that wall. This sounds like the next best thing.

Hope I can contribute something worthwhile, after I figure out the logistics.

Best regards,
Leonard Hughes

Dear Percy-L:

This is a reminder for all Percy-L members that discussion begins this Tuesday, 7/9 for the read of The Moviegoer by this summer's Slow Reading Group. Discussion questions for the week will be posted to Percy-L covering Section One of the novel that day.

It's not too late to join the Reading Group and be eligible for the Percy Library of America book giveaway. Reading Group members pursue the weekly readings and make a meaningful effort to contribute to discussion where inspired (all editions of the novel). Regardless, any Percy-L member may contribute to ongoing discussion at any time

In addition, for all Percy-L members below are links to two short, fun interactive Percy quizzes:
  1. The first to help you decide whether you really *ought* to be reading The Moviegoer as a refresher at this time; and
  2. A second quiz to reacquaint yourself with Percy's genius as a literary figure and his writing career.
Finally, below is a general reader essay on Percy and Southern Literature for background on Percy as a writer and additional context for the novel.

I look forward to everyone's contributions to this summer's discussion of The Moviegoer. Enjoy this close-read of the novel and the many new insights we are sure to turnover!

Best wishes,
Henry Mills
