Hi folks,
I ran into the CivicSpace project a couple of days ago. It's an effort to customize the Drupal (PHP/mySQL) CMS system for civicly engaged websites. It came out of the US Howard Dean(iac) campaign. They're really added a lot of nice new features, and I think this is a really powerful system. It's also designed to help with real world events and planning (announcements, mailinglists, contact lists, event RVSP tools, volunteer organizing etc). That might be beyond the scope of our project, but then again, it might tie into what Andy G said on the PIW list about moving beyond the cyberworld. How about PIW launch parties in our respective cities? :-)

Also, the ad campaign for Firefox is running on it: http://www.spreadfirefox.com
I'm working on customizing the PIW website to use the system, I'll put it on another system to show you when I'm done. We don't have to opt for running the site on it, it's just really cool, and I want to play with customizing the skins to run a real site. (They even have a TAL template engine). :-)
Cheers,
Bear Kaufmann
