I've downloaded mySQL and had a bit of a play.
Seems to have a lot of advantages
1) its open source - good for an open source project
2) it probably fits our needs better than postgresSQL
3) it runs on multiple platforms
4) both web and standalone interfaces are available
Can't really think of any disadvantages.
