As many of you know, OCBA maintains demonstration hives at Blackwood Farm Park near the intersection of New Hope Church Road and NC Hwy 86. If you haven't been there, check it out. It is a beautiful location, beautiful park. Page down at http://theocba.org/category/club-news for more info.

OCBA has 2 Langstroth hives and 2 top bar hives at Blackwood.

In 2016 Cynthia Woodsong and Cedric Pearce maintained the Langstroth hives. Cedric is unable to continue in 2017, so we are looking for an OCBA volunteer to help Cynthia. These hives are important to OCBA. They are used to demonstrate beekeeping to school and community groups.  If you have at least one year's experience in beekeeping this is an excellent opportunity to further develop your beekeeping prowess and amaze your fellow beekeepers and the non-beekeeping public.

If you have questions, contact Cynthia (copied on this message).

OCBA exists to provide continuing education to beekeepers and to educate the public. This is an opportunity to rise to that challenge. For those of you who aspire to Journeyman or Master Beekeeper status, assisting with these hives will fulfill one of the public service requirements- plus it is fun! For the rest of you, focus on the fun.

Let me or Cynthia know of your interest. Support OCBA. Support the hives at Blackwood Farm Park.

John
