I'm assuming if you've been gone for 5 weeks your probably not feeding. Hungry bees tend to be ill tempered. I know I am when I'm hungry. :) Feeding may help. 1:1 sugar water is what I'm feeding. About 2 gallons a week per hive on the strong ones. Some folks prefer honey. That decision would be up to you. If the aggressive behavior continues you might want to requeen. The dearth should be over when you see Goldenrod blooming in your area. I'm already seeing it at my house, but it's very early for it so I'm not sure how wide spread it might be. ______ Walter Sent from my iPhone
