Great question Sandy!

I hope more folk reply to all so we can get a real grasp to the unique SHB issue this year.

I use to put mine in the outside but this year I only use it if im using a nuc for a short time. It just provides way to many hissing places for them!

Great point!

One other consideration to consider and maybe more a reminder to folks since the SHB issue is greater this year. Is that when going through your colony not to forget to remove the bottom deep to clean off the top(inside) of our IPM boards. There is always hive debris in that area and more SHB hiding there as well.

Thanks for the email!

with the SHB present in the hives, and their natural habit of being more numerous at the frames nearest the outside walls, it brings up this question.......  for those who like to use the plastic deep (or medium) division board feeder-- the one that takes the place of 1 frame -   what frame position should it take?   If I put it on the outside position 1 or 10, then wouldn't this be an advantage to SHbeetles looking to hide?

Any thoughts?   Where do you now place it, or not at all?
